Augusta Ranch Animal Hospital has been awarded GOLD level certification as a Feline Friendly Practice by the America Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP).

WHAT IS A FELINE FRIENDLY PRACTICE?

The Cat Friendly Practice® program is a global initiative designed to elevate care for cats by reducing stress and making visits easier and more comfortable. Cat Friendly Practices® take extra steps to provide the best care and experience for you and your cat. Awarded by the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the veterinary practice must meet specific criteria in order to become a Cat Friendly Practice®. There are varying levels of certification, gold being the highest designation awarded.

Cat Friendly Practices:

Understand the unique needs and behaviors of the cat and custom tailor their approach and care to meet those needs.

Team members use Feline Friendly Handling Techniques and Nursing Guidelines which makes a tremendous difference in decreasing the stress and fear during the visit.

Staff who work with cats must meet a minimum requirement of continuing education including hours specifically in feline medicine and surgery.

Gold level hospitals are built/designed to help reduce the stress of visiting the veterinary office by having a designated cat-only waiting area and quiet housing area away from dogs and loud noises.
