Amanda Varney , DVM Dr. Amanda Varney grew up here in Arizona also. She grew up wanting to become a veterinarian. She attended an academic high school in Tucson where she focused on molecular biology. She continued molecular biology into college and says that after her junior year in college she felt a little lonely and isolated in the DNA sequencing and synthesis lab at ASU. This refocused her desire to become a veterinarian such that she redirected her studies to go onto graduate school in Veterinary Medicine. She then attended Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2002. Following graduation she also had a unique experience receiving a coveted spot as an intern at Mesa Veterinary Hospital, which is a hospital of specialists in small animal Medicine. Dr. Varney was recently married in January and settled in the east valley. Her pet family is made up of 2 Cornish Rex cats, a Pit Bull and a German Sheppard. Her medical practice interests are geriatric, preventative medicine and internal medicine. Dr. Varney’s skills and gentle nature is a great asset to August Ranch Animal Hospital and we are pleased to have her caring for our clients and their pet families.
